While the Boom Chick is clearly limited, I appreciate what Cre8audio is doing as drums are typically one of the most fussy, money and space intensive things to do in Eurorack.
"Boom Chick" was originally supposed to be,the name of sampling drum machine by Roger Linn back in the early 2000s
I remember getting rid of my Korg ESX electribe because the noise floor bothered me. But in hindsight it was an incredible instrument that I loved and worked great in my flow and I still miss it. Bad move on my part. No one cares about a noise floor in a jam and it doesn't matter in the kinds of recordings I make.
The hats are the best part
A Drumlogue and a Tascam Model 12 cost about the same as these two so unless portability is your bag and you don't mind losing loads of features I can't really see the value in them.
this thing is sounds like a circuit bent rhythm section out of a home organ, absolute perfection
I like the snare a lot.
Great overview, the sequencer on the drum machine is very intuitive!
Oh I like the drum sounds
Their graphic design has definitely gotten a lot better
Maybe I'm not the target audience here, but for how awesome the East Beast and West Pest are in this form-factor and price-point, I'm definitely underwhelmed by these two - though maybe my expectations were too high based on EB and WP?
I would buy the fm drum as a single module at a 99$ price tag for sure
finally! Ive known about these but didnt want to talk out of turn. Guess they are still touching up the 3rd oneā¦..
The compact mixer world needs stereo aux sends! There are way too many true stereo effects pedals (and loopers) to use mono sends. Mono send to stereo return really doesn't cut it.
This video is a great review but holy smokes I loved the music at the end!
I'm from Pittsburgh, and when you said that Pittsburgh modular said it is what is, guess it's a Pittsburgh attitude thing. It is what it is! Man I hate that saying. I've heard it my whole life. Thank you for another awesome video. And, I watched your performance video, and It blew mind. Keep it up.
I really would like to see the board of the Chick. If the Kick is easy to bend to more 909 style, add a bit of compression, and maybe change the default waveform to something else than a sinewave... the Volca Beat Kick is punchier than the Chick, plus it can be modded very easily... I wish the same could be said here, because the price isn't far off...
Ok INSANE!
assembler looks exactly like the eurorack mixer ive been looking for
