The boys think this is a janky simulator game, not knowing it's a decade old cult classic
As a former Yellowstone NP Ranger, this is peak. Love this. Yelled at the screen as he approached the Bison knowing they kick the crap out of the wolves. No they will never drill for oil there as that would break many laws. Not even this Administration would touch that idea. Wolves don’t eat coyotes but they do tear them up for territorial reasons. The Yellowstone Caldera is an active supervolcano which major cataclysmic eruptions: 640,000 years ago, 1.2 million and over 2 million years ago.
Also i know other people have pointed this out, and well likely not see another episode of this, but on the off chance we do, heres a couple things: There is a scent button to help you track prey as well as find dispersal wolves to be your mate(important for progressing the story) There's also a pee button (i believe its literally the 'P' button) that you use to mark territories (important once you find a mate and start claiming an area). Theres other stuff but that doesnt come into play until you have puppies. But anyway, this is a very cute and educational game (the devs put SO much work and research into making this game, it's insane) and I believe theyre planning on expanding the game to make it so your pups grow up and you cam keep building your pack.
Arin… Press V to track via scent. Please give Scrondarf another chance at life. I believe in him.
As a Minnesotan, seeing WolfQuest gave a whirlwind of memories as this game was originally sponsored by the Minnesota Zoo, and regularly researched out of Ely, MN! Good times were had chasing down elk in the original 2007 (I even had a t-shirt!)
The people who made and work on this game are so awesome. ♡ if I remember correctly, every howl and wolf fur pattern/color were actually based off real wolves that were observed
PLEASE actually play more of this, I need to see this wolf's life progress
Absolutely wild to see them play my childhood hyperfixation. I played this game regularly back in 2008-2012, and it inspired me to become a naturalist. And now I'm on my way to becoming a park ranger! I'm glad to see this game is getting some recognition. The devs are delightful people, and they put so much care and love into this little wildlife simulator game!
I’m babysitting a puppy today and had to turn off this video at @22:59 because she wanted to jump into the tv to help them take down the pronghorn. Just an FYI so that Scrondarf knows there’s a tiny homie who’s got their back.
Holy crap I used to play this on my mom‘s computer for hours when I was a really little kid. I had no clue what I was supposed to do. I was so jealous that my sister figured out how to start a family, but all her babies got eaten by a bear.
Definitely need more of this. Arin needs to find a pack, find a mate, and kill an elk! He was so close! Please make this into at least a short series boys. There’s so much potential for hijinks.
As someone who played this over a decade ago I’m so happy to see so much love is still being put into the game, just bought it again a month ago NEVER thought the grumps would play it!! This is awesome
i like how arin sees a moose and goes “that thing will fucking gore me” but didn’t hesitate to attack the 2 3000 pound buffalos lol
"So we were both right." - Arin "Yellowstone is in California and Everywhere with palm trees is Florida" Hanson
Fun fact, the American bison understand how big they are and when the herd sees wolves they huddle up and would wait to fight, so native Americans would where wolf skins over their backs and stalks close to the bison were they huddle together and then shoot their arrows at a standing target, because the bisons also recognized humans and would run away from them.
Before you find your WolfJob, you first have to go on a WolfQuest
"I cant wait til they discover the Scent Vision!" i said with glees (they never discovered scent vision...)
2 years old, time to set off on your own. You immediately bit off more than you could chew and broke your jaw. Such is life, Scrondorf.
"Scrondalf the wolfo will rise again" I am so happy to hear those words
