Hi JustADad, this is Mehul - co-founder at Matic. Thanks so much for your kind and very thorough review. Just want to say two things: 1. The corner cleaning algorithm and toe kicks algorithms are v0.9 -- we are still improving them. The performance for your corners was disappointing even for me. We WILL ship a new, improved algorithm for it soon. It needs a special algorithm because when it goes all the way in the corner, it needs to gently backout like a car in carner w/o bumping to side or front. We will get this right... 2, Also, the robot should work with any WiFI bandwidth -- both 2.4Ghz and 5.0 Ghz -- and some newer ones. We will clarify all other things and improve -- really appreciate your amazing review.
The vacuum is rectangular and should be perfect for the edges with the brush, that is a bit disappointing to be honest.
I don't think is ready for release since the competition do a better job for cheaper price specially in the corners. I like the concept and the app looks amazing.
One of the reasons I like my vacuum robot is how it gets all the way under furniture. This robot looks too big for me, but it’s a nice concept for sure
Any time I'm looking for a true and super thorough review just a dad is top tier. If you didn't review it, I don't want it. Thank you for all your hard work. ❤
Come on, dont say this is "too good" !! It look drunk, miss edges and corner like non smart robot. I do mot care about the CEO and its great background story. The only good thing is the packaging. Do not do sponsored videos, you are loosing credibility!
I received a Ecovacs t50 pro a couple days ago. Two out of the three times I’ve started a run, it got tangled up in something within 15 mins. Just ordered a Matic this morning to give it a chance. Hopefully it can survive my boys hotwheels and legos.
One of the reasons i got dreame robot vacuum was because I wanted it to underneath furniture, which collects a lot of dust. This will only be good for open area that doesn't have a lot of furniture. They would be better off selling it to schools so it can mop and vacuum the gym floor every day. But for houses and offices i doubt someone will go for one of these over a low profile vacuum.
Noooo, just no! The standard robots seem to be much better at cleaning. They're inventing the wheel from scratch
1k and can't go under anything? Are they DRUNK???
Also you would think they would have programmed the device to go all the way to the wall to clean the corners and then back up and then turn.
I love that it’s a USA product and a California company. I think it needs a redesign, and it’s not ready for release. That corner coverage is sad, and it doesn’t go under furniture at all. I can’t see this being very useful for a home. The mop seems to do really well though. For 1k I think there are way better options.
The edge and corner cleaning are pretty bad. I would have to come back and hit that with a stand-up vacuum. The fact that the body is wider than the head will always hurt the edge cleaning, as it just can't physically get into the corner or hug the wall. If the head were a little bigger than the body, it would solve a lot of the navigation issues they are having with the corner, cause they would have some space to move the wheels. I want to like this vacuum, but it feels very first-gen to me.
Not gonna lie: wish you also bought this with your own money. I don’t think you should give the seal of approval to manufacturer provided vacuums.
This guy is impressed with all vacuum robots. Best bias ever.
It's definitely not the best navigation, but this is their first robot vacuum, and that's not too bad for their first. And I'm sure it'll get better as they roll out software updates. It's definitely one of a kind and a step forward. Although everything, I wish them the best of luck to a new innovation.
Looks like they're using the same sort of technology in the app has the Tesla uses in self-driving mode.
Some pretty interesting stuff that could on the long run revolutionize the robot vacuum market, but this need a LOT of work before it's ready for mass market, it's more of a prototype than anything right now and selling it as a finished product seing the overall performance could hurt the brand
Nice video , it has inspirational features. With a few minor changes in software, it can make a much more stable cleaning. It's clearly a promising project. I hope that better ones will come out on this project and other brands will have to compete with each other in some subjects because even the best robot vacuum cleaners are not as good as ‘MATIC’ in object avoidance or dirty area detection, this video shows it; Just a small suggestion JustADad sticker on the youtube emblem etc. I recommend that you add the youtube emblem etc. so that you can be found more easily.
