The documentation for Node red is actually opposite to the intent of the design of node red, not only do the tutorials assume you have extensive Javascript or server/type knowledge, it skims over everything that a beginner needs to know. The very, very basics.
I find it completely pointless to design a suite of GUI tools and then leave a beginner without any knowledge of how to use those sets of tools from a Beginners point of view. I have moderate JS knowledge and I am flabbergasted at how little I can actually do with Nodered. The tutorials at 3-5+ years old, skim key points of understanding and leave me frustrated at every step of the way.
The people that I know who are making good use of it have no tutorials to point me to LOL and no videos that work at this point. An abandoned project from the standpoint of usability for projects. Useful, if the effort were put into making a beginner able to follow baby steps -- without even JS knowledge, server knowledge, GET and POST requests and so forth.

@alconos82

Hello,
I am collecting with NODE RED some variables from a plc but I am collecting them with many decimals, for example 29.564736254836457.
How can I pass it to 29.56 in NODE RED?

Thank you!

@m3kbeatz

Any doc for best practices?

@BillyGates1721

Well this introduction show pictures in the background and explain almost nothing what is done there. If you are completely new to nodered this backround-pictures counteract on the words that are said "intuitive creating of ..." It is completely UN-intuitive to use a lot of specific technical terms that are unknown to newcomers. IMO this introduction-video failed to be introductional in a sense of inviting and welcoming new users.

@neatodd

Would have liked to watch this series of videos but the pointless and distracting background music makes it impossible. Here's a tip: just because the maker of the video understands what's being said doesn't mean the viewer does - the viewer needs to concentrate on the speaker and not be distracted by music.

@elderofzion

easier writing your own code than learning all that

Speak more slowly. Enunciate more clearly. Find a narrator that can speak RP. And don't pair an exceptionally complex visual with narration that is not actually explaining the on-screen content.

@starcruiser9325

I thought I was being thick but it looks like it’s not just me. This sounds like a boffin talking to others that know what he’s talking about not a beginner. It’s also like a foreign language with many meaningless words that aren’t explained.

@a3103-j7g

a terrible speech. get a speaking course please.
