Then switched to the XM4s, but I've always missed the overal clarity of my MDRs.
Now I'm waiting for my M1 to arrive, pairing it up with a fiio ka11 dac dongle

I have the MDR-1AM2 and it sound amazing even beating my $1000+ IEMs but the build quality sucks. Since I have DAPs and External DAC, I’m getting the M1. Amazing Sony sound quality.

Thanks for the comparison. Is the M1 be a good option for general outdoor listening and while travelling ? Can it handle busy/fast music  like metal? I am looking at both these models but my sonic preference leans warm with laid back treble so considering M1 over 1AM2.

I’ve been eyeing both the MDR-M1 and MDR-1AM2 for a while, but this video makes me lean heavily toward the M1. The soundstage and warmth seem unbeatable for daily listening. Would the M1 still hold up for more analytical, studio-like use?
