@RobotSocialist

Hark, fair adventurer! Are you looking for weapons? Baldrick is the best blacksmith in all the land! He’s up on the third floor, apartment 308.

@rich7787

When you said he was copying something he saw on the history channel I thought, “he’s building a UFO?”

@PharadayCage

As someone who works with metal, he was incredibly fortunate not to have killed anyone, including himself.

@thomaspatnode7053

Finally it's my turn to say "oh wow, this happened near me and I remember it" but I'll do ya one better: Cohoes has a history of big fires, including a mid century fire in a theater, a multi-block fire in like the 80s and in the last 10 years (not a fire) a 16 year old girl got hit by a car resulting in no charges but the main drag was completely redesigned to be way safer. All of these could be great episodes to hear about!

@spiloFTW

An amateur blacksmith is every landlords worst nightmare

@upstating

As an Upstater, when I saw it was Cohoes my reaction was "This could be a number of things... oh, I remember that one."

@danielle3064

"we have a forge at home"
The forge at home:

@3rdworldgarage450

I really want more details, like where was that burn barrel?

@OffendingTheOffendable

Keyword is "amateur"

@davidmedlin8562

I remember this I live a few towns away, those poor people but the community came together for them

@2StrokeDriptroit

I remember it very well! I live in Schaghticoke so am about 20 minutes away from Cohoes. I wish to add to this that in tge late 1980’s a whole block on this street burned as well and we had a demolition company then and were there immediately when they needed the remains of a larga pharmacy and several 2 story houses removed. We were loading still hot and smoking debris into our 2 Brockway roll-off 40 yard dumpster trucks, one with a 6-71 N Detroit and the other with a 250 Cummins 855 cubic inch engines and loaded with a 977 K Traxcavator track loader. We started hauling in the wee hours of the next day. I still have a Line Material model 175 street light in my lighting collection that came down when the pole it was on caught fire, weakening it, then a collapse of a brick wall took it down. I found a replacement refractor globe and it still works great, 175 watt mercury vapor. A cool artifact from a literal hell-scape!! 😋 Cheers!!

@LightBlueVans

oh shit i did not expect to see the town next to mine on Plainly Difficult, but here we are!

@Lil_Warrior_Princess

Hiiiiii metal fabricator here. I'm not really opposed to amateur blacksmiths (with supervision like I and every other blacksmith had when we started out). The problem comes in where you merge the words "amateur backsmith" and "burn barrel" together. These words should absolutely be as far apart as they can. Thank you!

20 plus buildings is a bigger issue with building code

@jasonjacobs4313

I thought arson was done with intent. This seems more like uncommon stupidity?

@meowleow

Wow, surprised to see my hometown on this channel. I remember when this happened and knew the kid whose dad did it. It was Remsen street and it was especially windy that day causing fireballs to hit other buildings

@Fdny0343

It's amazing to see this considering I lived right across the river - about a mile and a half - when this happened. Quite a wild memory.

@lazerkiser7855

I live the state of NY sadly Cohoes seems to bad cases of City fires

@BlakeCampbellAutos

Happened in a town across the river from me called Cohoes NY

@pp3k3jamail
