Nunavut mentioned!!!! Nunavut became an official territory of Canada in 1999, originally it was part of the Northwest Territories but with efforts by the native Inuit population, in a huge majority of being a separate territory they set up the new territory of Canada. Nunavut today has many opportunities for overall growth. An example of new economic development is the mining industry. Nunavut is rich in minerals such as gold, iron, silver, and uranium just to list a few. All of Nunavut is Inuit owned land, no corporation can take resources without the approval of the territorial government.
