Actually, Immortal is only like 900-1200 years old, going off the show he looks Nordic when he gets his powers from the light, meaning it was the 8th-11th century since that was the Viking era. So while he isn't 3000 years old, he is still pretty damn old and Kate is barely 18 by the time she joins the Guardians, I'm pretty sure the only reason they didn't apply sooner is because the Teen Team were all still adolescent teenagers during S1, at least till the 8 month time gap between Nolan killing the Guardians and when he finally reveals himself to Mark. So yeah, the age gap as well as Kate's barely legal age do make it weird. But the more important issue is why Kate is retiring like she been doing stuff all 19 years of her life, Immortal makes sense, he's well around 1200, he's never had his life to himself as he's spent hundreds of years doing things for others, he was the Strongest human for the longest time, then some caked up alien comes, whoops your butt TWICE and even has a half human kid who could whoop you just as bad, then he gets killed by a WEAKER version of that kid, dude has gotten violated so many times because of how obsolete he is now, he's the equivalent of using Sherman tanks in Modern Tank Combat, they gonna get wrecked. Not to mention what 1200 years is going to do to someone's head, that alone would drive anyone mad, adding the fact you're now obsolete and had to find out what death feels like 3 times won't help, dude honestly had every right to retire.
