I like Kengan Ashura for its use of fighting styles as an alternative for a power system. The guys who got together and wrote the manga seemed to have studied combat sports and know what can turn a fight into either an expected outcome or a total coin toss. Example: there’s a fighter from a mountain tribe who regrets moving to the city because he’s now fat, heavy, and spoiled by technology. He fights a vigilante cop with a girl radioing strategies in secret. We should’ve known how expectable the cop W was but seeds of doubt were planted when the former tribesman found just a bit of his old strength and moved faster than the girl could finish her analysis
