This "people don't care about 120Hz" attitude needs to change. Apple is profiting off people's ignorance at this point. 120Hz is no longer a premium feature—it's become a standard. Including it would have made more sense than adding the Camera Control feature to the base iPhone 16. Edit: Wow, this really took off. I’ve been reading through the comments, and I hear you. But you’re all actually proving my point. The issue isn’t whether you notice it or care about it; it’s the fact that Apple is shipping a product without a now-standard feature. This year, Apple got away with it because other features align with the Pro lineup, but rumors suggest they’ll definitely bring 120Hz to the base 17 series. And I’m sure once they do, you’ll all start to notice the difference.
At $799, its high time they ship 120Hz. I'm an iPhone user since 3GS but its about damn time.
I just received iPhone 16 today as an graduation gift and here to see all new features and stuff you can do with it that I couldn’t do with my old iPhone 12
As an owner of the Iphone 13 Pro (which is still a beast aside the battery now) I would like to try the Iphone 16, but the only thing that block me from buying this model is the 60hz display, I know that people who buy 16 don't care about the display refresh, but it should be a "normal" feature of every phone in 2024 and i'm still addicted at 120hz of Pro models
120Hz isn't just for smoothness, it's also about touch response. The screen is insanely more touch responsive and reactive while scrolling I'm not even kidding, it is very noticeable. On 60Hz it feels like it drags along and you have to keep your finger more on the screen for it to register. The 16 costs 1100€ for the 256 GB model and the 16 plus 256 GB over 1200€ in Germany which is outrageous for 60Hz phones
I had a 15 Pro Max and have switched to the standard 16. The primary motivation is size and weight. I came from an Xr and never got used to the size or weight of the Max. Apple made my decision easy by making the phone features fairly equal. The only thing I will miss is the telephoto lens. Being able to just handle the phone with one hand is just so worth it to me. I decided against the 16 Pro because it’s still fairly heavy and the price isn’t worth it to me. I see the 60hz vs 120hz but it’s not important to me at all.
As a current user of iphone 16, coming from samsung a54 was insane for me and tought 60hz would be problem for me but im amazed by how stable ios. It doesn’t feel like 60hz.
Maybe I’m a simple fool, but the 60hz is literally perfectly fine with me. I mean it’s smooth enough. I’m still holding a gosh darn portal to the universe in my hands with any smart phone. I’m gonna complain that the scrolling could be more smooth when it already is smooth? I have bigger fish to fry in my life.
I love when Pixel 6A came out it was bashed around by all the people for having a good 60 hz display, but in case of Apple suddenly it's all about the average consumer not noticing things!!!
I tried the 16 vs the 16 pro side by side and that 120 hertz felt much better and not cheap or lagging so the pro is what I got. It’s much smoother
If the 16 could natively support raw photos I would get it. It doesn't and so it's immediately disqualified for me. I find it such an odd intentional handicap from Apple. Samsung phones down to their A series can take raw photos (I know this because I owned an A20 4 years ago which introduced me to the format). Why a phone that expensive can't, despite being plenty more powerful than the iPhone 13 pro which debuted RAW is beyond me. Excellent video as always Kyle!
I'm using a S21 almost for 3 years as my personal phone, and a S10e for almost 5 years (firstly as my personal phone and now as a professional/banking device that stays almost always at home). Despite having 120hz, I use the S21 most of the time in 60hz because: 1 - I don't game on my phone. 2 - It saves some battery. 3 - I simply don't care having this super "fluidity" just to scroll menus and social media feeds. If 120hz is important to you, fine. But not everyone needs it or actually care for it. And I consider myself as kind of a in between intermediary/heavy user.
Switching back from 120hz to 60hz is something you only notice for like 1-2days MAX. I went from iPhone 15 pro max to iPhone 16 and I adjusted so quickly. It’s not bad at all
60Hz in 2024 is a disgrace. It’s like lcd vs oled.
I came from iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro. And I would say, it’s really heavy for me and it strains my hands sometimes. Of course, I love the 120hz and the pro cameras but this iPhone 16, is just the perfect size and weight for me. I can live with the 60hz and non-pro cameras. What I noticed with the iPhone 16 is how smooth and fluid opening and switching apps, maybe because of the new processor.
Protip: Avoiding wireless charging leads to a healthier and longer lasting battery for long-term use
Got me and my girlfriend the 16 pro and pro max recently and honestly our batteries last almost two days. I have a work phone so that makes sense for my battery to stretch. But I watch YouTube, take random photos or videos with my son, play games and read comics on it every single day and my Gf only has the new one. And it’s crazy to me that my battery and hers last as long as they do. We upgraded from the iPhone 11 so I feel like for us the upgrade is worth it far more than it would be for most people
This was a great video, thanks. I'm moving from an iPhone 7+ to the 16, so there's going to be a learning curve and some surprises, so videos like this are very helpful.
I’m coming from 15 pro and just got the 16 plus had it about a week now and I will tell you there is a huge difference. Battery life on plus is incredible and camera quality is superb I take a lot of photos and videos and love the 16 plus, YES no 120hz apples does need to make it a standard with the rest of the phones. I don’t really care that much. I’m tired of the LAME colors of the pro line ups. The dual camera layout on the 16 is awesome I love the look. I will say huge difference for me in all around performance batter life and camera than that of the 15 pro
