You already pretty much know the story that goes with this song but Explanation: a girl with dory memory falls in love with a boy who shares the same feelings as her but she can’t remember any of the great memories she had with him or even her own personality and she often times doesn’t even remember his name but she knows she must have asked that question millions of times and her lover feel really sad since he feels the memories are a waste since she can’t even remember them

Okay I’m going to tell my theory on this one: (don’t know if there’s a source material or what so if there is pls let me know) ⚠️TW: su*c*de and car accident/accident⚠️ There’s a girl who forgets pretty much everything every day.She only remembers one person: the boy, because he is the one who made her this way “I threw away your sad past and refuse to talk about it”. Girl sees boy and remembers only him, they spend all day hanging out, having fun and filling in memories, just like they had so many times before. Near the end of the day, she does remember this event that he refuses to talk about, hence the quick scenes where she cries etc. so, he explains in detail about this event (I’m not sure what it is yet) and why she forgets every day. She forgets every day because he didn’t want her to feel the pain of the event. I believe this event is a car crash, or an accident of some sort. He helps her in the accident, and he befriends her and quite probably falls in love. For whatever reason, he has to leave and she becomes depressed and... you know what. Then he wishes, most likely on a shooting star, considering the fact they’re looking at the night sky and she compares her memory loss to a shooting star, for her to forget the accident and her pain. The next day however, she remembers. So her memory is reset. Again and again and again. She forgives him for leaving her, and wonders how many times he’s had to tell her this. Then, because he wished for her to forget everything, she faints, and all her memories leave her again. We don’t know do the next day was the same or not, because the last verse mentions that she doesn’t mind never forgetting and having a new personality and making new memories, so long as it’s with him. I’d like to think that this is what broke it, considering the fact after the forgetful girl title comes off from her POV but idk. That’s just my theory though.

Man... This song tells a story. It feels like I just read a book or watched an anime even tho it was just 5 min. It's so bittersweet and the music just narrates this tale in a beautifully painful way. Love this song. <3

What if this is actually the boy's perspective of events, day after day the girl forgets her memories and day after day she tells him all these things, always ending with asking him his name. For some reason he sealed his memories away too which is why you find them in a locked room together at the end, smiling.
