Another point. The spaces don't feel like they were made for humans to exist in, because they weren't. After humans died out, automated robots and AI continue to build out endlessly, covering all man-made structures.
Blame reminds me of sketches by piranesi called Carceri d'invenzione or imaginary prisons, they were a set of 12 art pieces that were the 1700s version of this idea, a place so vast and incomprehensible you feel trapped by it, love the drawings and love blame!
NaissanceE is a game that is inspired by that essence, I recommend it.
I want someone more talented than me to make something that merges this mood with The Enigma of Amigara Fault's mood. I think they'd mesh well.
Made me think of a demo for a climbing game I played last year called Lorn's Lure.
Daryl shorts! Great "video" man. I would have never thought your long form content could work as a short (which we know the youtube algorithm loves shorts!) but as with your videos, you never cease to surpise, because this was awsome! Keep up your incredible work :)
I don't "Blame!" you... Aaaaand.... ill see myself out
Oh shit, I absolutely love Solar Sands' video on Monumentality and I've been meaning to read Blame, its such an interesting concept with some gorgeous background art
Lorne's Lure is a perfect game to play if you're into Blame! <3
Small info that doesn't feel natural for English speakers: the 'a' of BLAME! is pronounced like the 'a' of "man". (no worries if you keep on saying "blame" the English way, though ^^)
I feel like you would love Lorn's Lure
Girls' Last Tour-coded world building
I wonder if the makers of Inside took inspiration from blame
Nihei's other works are really good as well!
Short bit of weeb nitpicking: The word manga is pronounced with each A being like the A in car. As in "mahn-gah", not "main-gah."
Manga does not rhyme with mango
please dont pronounce “manga” like that…youre free to, you have every right to, im in the wrong for caring and going as far as to then ask you to not-…actually no, im not asking, im begging you, please
Its pronounced blamm. Not blame
I love how all his works has Toha Heavy Industries in it
