Great video. As an American who retired from the US Army, I generally knew from my Scottish family members that my great-uncle RNVR Able Seaman, Tom Mylet, a teenager recruited out of Paisley, Scotland, was KIA while serving w/ the Hawk Bn at the second objective-phase line on 13 Nov 16. Your narration of the Battle of Ancre, along w/ your map overlays of the phase lines and videos/photos of the Ancre battlefield give me a much better understanding of the battleground conditions that resulted in his untimely death.

Great work, i really hope more of the younger generations get to watch you guys so they can learn about the bravery, courage and the suffering, loss and brutality of war.

You are now carrying the torch of the memories and voices of the men and woman of WW1 as a former soldier the importance of push there stories is a significantly important one.

As a species i think we are falling short of learning from our past!!

Excellent work ladies and gents 😊

@cortesm

Very immersive tour. Unbelievable how Lucy’s voice guides one through the field and the events of those days. Thanks

@kevinnolbert9629

Amazing channel. I dare say, the best WW1 AND WW2 deep dive channel on the whole YouTube. There are really good ones, but the then and now map overlay is frigging awesome. Great job.

@stuartburbridge8091

Did this walk last Friday with the assistance of Linesman, fantastic to have some great background to the story of the 13th November. Superbly told by Lucy and fantastic overlay graphics and drone work. Well done!

@Digmen1

Wow, the modern maps, and graphics and drone fotage all put together is amazing.
Hats off to whoever did that

@YogicBarrister

My great uncle Jack was in Nelson. I have researched it over the years. This is the best insight yet. Thank you Lucy! Best wishes, Graham Todd

@Gone_Postal33

As someone who reenacts the Drake Battalion in the states I really enjoyed this video. It was great to see the terrain of the battle and have a fantastic explanation. I hope to visit some day, and pay my respects. That poem at the end really hits you hard. Thanks for a great video.

@TVR-Steve

Lucy thank you so much for this, wonderfully presented and brilliantly put together.
I have found out this evening that my great, great uncle was killed near Beaumont-Hamel (Bedfordshire Regiment, 6th Bn.), and is buried on the hill north of it. I shall visit soon.

@Kimchiboy08

Enjoying the combination of location and details of battle movements. Good work 👍

@markbaldwin2614

My great uncle William Baldwin was in the RMLI and probably involved in this battle. He died on 14 February 1917 and is buried at Ancre Cemetery

@deanburn3400

Excellent video may I say. It brought back memories of visiting Passchendale and the Yrpres salient some years ago. Thank you for your detailed knowledge with aided maps and the soldiers personal accounts of the battle.

@Lesgunia
