His setup: exchange esp with arduino. Arduino has better analog input resolution but to be honest, why he changes between videos i cannot say: Controller: Esp32 (Easy smart home integration), 9V Battery that goes through the Relais to power the small pump(horizontal dive pump). The relay has to be 3.3V or less otherwise the Esp cant controll it. The esp32 has an external power source and the display is any I2c lcd display. Hey, he uprgraded from the bad resistive soil sensor. My setup you can get everything from Berrybase: Capacitive Soil sensor v1.2 Waveshare: 6V 5W Solarpannel, Chargecontroller Power Management Modul with an Battery extension to uprade to a 18650 Akku/Batterie. Raspberry Pico 2 as the microcontroller and the pump is the same but for 3-6V. I dont use a relay because the idle power draw is way higher than my IRLZ44N Transistors. so the logic is that the Batterysetup goes into the controller and into the Transistor the transistor only releases the voltage to the pump, if the Controller says so(Gate). The moisture sensor is directly connected to the controller. Programm on the controller is also not trivial.
