I say context and training history matter. For someone who's just getting into S&C for BJJ, both modalities deserve a place in the program. But for someone who's got a ton of experience lifting, erring more on the side of calisthenics and plyo for a block or two may be the way to go. Conversely, someone with an extensive calisthenics training history will benefit more from doing a strength block
What the athletes weaknesses already are play a big role, a beefy guy may benefit from a calisthenics dominant program whereas a smaller guy may be the opposite. Either way, i think theyre best cycled in and out of priority for most people. Im not a bjj coach or practitioner but from what i can tell, u should prioritise strong isometric strength, explosiveness and body control (among many other things ofc) and most of these u would not need traditional weight training. BUT weights are a very good middleground tool to develop many athletic qualities at once, that being said maybe an emphasis on weighted calisthenics could be good? Rings could also be useful as it trains stability and could help with joint stability in bad postitions aswell as building muscle and or strength. Best option is variety!!!

Honestly when it comes to pulling strength I’d say body weight exercises and pushing I would say free weights
