The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has dismissed Sudan’s case against the United Arab Emirates, citing lack of jurisdiction. Sudan accused the UAE of aiding the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in committing genocide against the Masalit community in Darfur, in violation of the Genocide Convention.
The UAE argued the ICJ had no authority, referencing its 2005 reservation to Article 9 of the Convention, which the court upheld in a 14–2 ruling. The case was removed from the ICJ’s docket.
