This time on Wicked Cuisine, we take you to an authentic Shanghai breakfast. We had this breakfast at a restaurant close to Shanghai's Luxun Park. The restaurant is always packed, but you will be hard-pressed to find some foreigners. When we had our breakfast there was an old couple at the same table who were old Shanghai people (or lao shanghai nin, as they say in Shanghainese).
What we show you today is only a small selection of the many authentic Shanghaines dishes this restaurant has. All of their dishes simply taste wonderful. And they're cheap as well. The youtiao, sesame ball, jianbing and two balls of doufunao together were just 26 RMB.
The restaurant is called Xiaotaoyuan (Small Peach Garden) and is located at the main entrance of the Luxun Park in Shanghai's Hongkou District.
