This is my divorce story. A few years ago, I got married to a wonderful man in New York City because gay marriage was not yet legal in our state. It took the Supreme Court making gay marriage the law of the land before my husband and I were able to adopt my great nephew together. Unfortunately, my marriage was toxic, and we divorced.
