This video lists and explains protocols within the seven layers of the OSI model, relevant to IoT [00:09].
It builds upon a previous lecture about the OSI model and TCP/IP.
Physical Layer: Protocols include telephone networks, IRDA, USB, and Ethernet [01:36]. Focus: Infrared, RS232, RS 422, RS 485, 802.11 WiFi, and ISM bands [03:45].
Data Link Layer: Protocols include ARP, ATM, CHAP, and Ethernet [04:36]. Focus: Ethernet, MAC, Point to Point Protocol, UART, SPI, and I2C [08:38].
Network Layer: Primarily focuses on the Internet Protocol (IP) [10:44].
Transport Layer: Focuses on TCP and UDP [11:30].
Session Layer: Focuses on SMPP [12:06].
Presentation Layer: Covers TLS, AFP, and SSL [12:20].
Application Layer: Focuses on TFTP, SSH, NTP, HTTPS, DNS, and DHCP [13:06].
Bluetooth and other protocols will also be discussed [13:25].
Each upcoming lecture will cover one protocol in detail [13:40].
