📍Trying a New Quilting Motif: Practicing Stars from Lori Kennedy’s Book

In this video, I’m putting thread to fabric and giving the Stars and Stripes motif a try for the first time. I’m following Lori Kennedy’s steps—starting at the bottom of the star—and using my practice sandwich to see how it feels under the needle.

You’ll hear a bit about my process, how I adjust on the fly, and why it’s totally normal to need practice with a new design (even when you’ve quilted for years). Next, I’ll flip the piece and try some larger stars to see how they look.

This is all part of how I test before quilting a full quilt top—especially for raw edge appliqué, where the quilting really needs to hold things down.
