I'm trying to come up with an 'ocean' theme for some of my lanterns.
The 'seaweed' is a bamboo lantern covered with 3 layers of tissue; the fish (one of 5 that I've made) uses chicken wire, while the octopus (yes it's supposed to be an octopus) is made of 12 gauge stainless steel wire that was VERY painstakingly brazed together using an Air-Acetylene Turbo Torch and some flux coated bronze.
These use a variation of some of the display routines that I've created with the FastLED library on Arduino Nano's (which I order by the 10 pack).

Note: I'm not sure I recommend using brazing, and may look into MIG or other form of welding.
