3 reasons that I love programming sled exercises:
1. Easy to learn technique- compared to some exercises most sled exercises are not complicated and very intuitive. In my experience every client has got comfortable with how to do a sled exercise within the first session of doing it.
2. Easily modified intensity and goals- Like most exercises changing the load on the sled changes how hard it is. However, unlike other exercises this allows us to easily change whether we are focusing on strength, power or conditioning. We can also push sled exercises very heavy with minimal risk- if it is too heavy it just won't move! 3. Sled work causes minimal soreness- With minimal eccentric work most individuals will not have much in the way of DOMS after doing sled exercises. This is another reason we can push them very hard and also do them very frequently as it doesn't take days to recover.
