Last week in a podcast interview, I was asked a great question: "What's the difference between a marketer and a growth hacker?" Here's a brief summary. Ideally as a business owner you leverage both skills - those of a marketer and those of a growth hacker.
Goals:
🌳 Marketer: Focuses on increasing brand visibility, generating leads, and driving conversions.
🚀 Growth Hacker: Aims for rapid and scalable growth.
Approach:
🌳 Marketer: Employs structured, predefined strategies and tactics.
🚀 Growth Hacker: Utilizes a flexible, data-driven, and iterative approach.
Metrics:
🌳 Marketer: Measures success through reach, engagement, conversion rates, and return on investment (ROI).
🚀 Growth Hacker: Focuses on customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), retention rate etc.
Mindset:
🌳 Marketer: Adopts a long-term, brand-building mindset, focusing on nurturing customer relationships.
🚀 Growth Hacker: Operates with a growth mindset, seeking quick wins through constant experimentation.
Marketing Ecosystem:
🌳 Marketer: Engages across various stages of the marketing ecosystem.
🚀 Growth Hacker: Primarily targets the early stages of the funnel, optimising for growth.
I hope this is helpful!
