➡️ Magento 1 hacker attack
September didn't bring good Magento news, especially for Magento 1 store owners. Nearly 2,000 Magento 1 stores were hacked. How much time is needed to do that? A year? A month? A few days!
It happened on 12 and 13 of September, and a day later the number increased to almost four thousand and a half. All of the websites had at least one thing in common. They were running on Magento 1, which met its end of life in June 2020.
Hackers used a 0-day exploit to get access to websites and place malicious code at the checkout page. The malware extracts card data that unaware customers type in while they purchase. After that, the malware sends the data back to hackers.
Sansec, a company that specializess in security, shared this Magento news and named the attack the biggest one in the eCommerce store. Over a few days, 4,500+ M1 stores were hacked.

Magento released a supercharged version of the Magento Security Scan Tool. Any seller can use the tool free of charge to check their websites for any security threats, vulnerabilities, find out-of-date patches, and much more. That's the best news in Magento for store owners.
➡️ Magento x Sansec partnership
Magento also partnered with Sansec to include about 9,000 malware and vulnerability signatures to its Security Scan Tool. Their addition will make the tool even more powerful, especially for M1 stores.
