In this comprehensive tutorial, I dive deep into the fascinating world of wireless power transmission by demonstrating how to build a DIY induction coil setup. This project is perfect for electronics enthusiasts and hobbyists looking to explore wireless energy transfer and gain a deeper understanding of power electronics.
The transmitter (TX) coil, designed with a centre-tap of 15+15 turns, is powered by a BD139 transistor and a simple arrangement of resistors and capacitors. On the receiving end (RX), a coil with 30 turns is used, connected to a diode for rectification. The working principle is based on inductive coupling, allowing for the efficient transfer of energy without any physical connection.
But that's not all! I also show how the same TX circuit can be repurposed to create a mini inverter using a 12-0-12 transformer. This versatile project showcases the potential of inductive power transfer in various applications, from wireless power systems to small-scale inverters.
