BionicFlyingFox is semi-autonomous flying robot.
This Robotic Fruit Bat is created by Festo, a German Bionic Tech Firm.
It is modeled after Fruit Bats (or Flying Foxes) which are exceptional aerialists.
The BionicFlyFox can master the agile flying manoeuvres of its natural role model.
The bat is semi- autonomous and all it needs is a human for take off and landing. The robot uses an An airtight membrane to replicate a bat's skin. It has an wingspan of 7.5 feet
and weighs only 1.3LBS.
To Fly it communicates constantly with a motion-tracking system.
It has infrared sensors on the bat's legs and wing tips which connects with infrared cameras on the ground.
Festo is also known for its nature inspired robots. This bat is yet another addition.
