What Breaking the Zelda Formula Really Meant: BOTW. Breath of the Wild's "New" Mechanics. Studying the game design of Zelda, I've decided that there's nothing new in the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild that hasn't existed in another zelda game. It seems Zelda 1, Wind Waker, and Majora's mask are some of the most original. And Skyward sword really did a lot "new" mechanics even though no one played it.
