Yesterday we used local git hooks to re-deploy our blog on every commit.
Ideally, however, we'd like to have the deploy take place on the server so that whether we're pushing from our home computer or our work computer, the deploy happens for any source.

This is good information to understand at a high level, but not necessarily something you need to keep in working memory, so we're going to cheat a little by grabbing some snippets from an old blog of mine.
