Did Robots Just Get SMOKED by Humans in the World’s First Humanoid Robot Half-Marathon in Beijing China?!
Would you run a marathon next to a robot? Share your thoughts in the comments.
China just hosted the world’s first humanoid robot half-marathon, and spoiler alert: the robots did not win. Over 20 bipedal bots jogged 13 miles alongside 12,000 humans in Beijing’s tech-packed Yizhuang district. While humans cruised through, the robots—like the standout Tiangong Ultra—struggled with slopes, swaps, and battery changes. Tiangong Ultra clocked in at 2 hours 40 minutes, which is almost two hours slower than the human winner. Still, it’s a huge flex in the robot world, especially since some bots had helpers running behind them just in case they face-planted. China sees humanoid robots as a major tech frontier and is pushing for mass production by 2025. Robots doing marathons? Roundhouse kicks? Flipping on bikes? Wild. The tech race between China, the U.S., and Europe is heating up—and these bots are literally running to catch up.
