Ellen Kuzwayo Award 2024
The Council of the University of Johannesburg annually bestows the Ellen Kuzwayo Award
on individuals who, in the estimation of the Council, demonstrate sustained and exceptional contributions beyond the confines of teaching and research to the promotion of the well-being of the University or the society in a manner aligned
to the University's vision, mission, core values and strategic goals, and with whom the institution is proud to be associated.
Dignitas Award 2024
The University of Johannesburg bestows the Dignitas Award to recognise the efforts
of alumni who have made significant contributions to the University, a specific field of study and/or a community, region or the nation.
The Latin word dignitas refers to the almost physical aura that surrounds a person once he or she has fulfilled an important task.
It therefore has the implied meaning of deserving, merit and worthiness.
The University of Johannesburg is proud to present the Ellen Kuzwayo Council Award 2024 to Mr. Linda Twala for his positive impact on society through his dedication to improving lives especially in health, education and empowerment, which has a lasting impression on communities.
