Milo Alexsander: What is machine learning? And can you give examples?

Jaafar Almusaad : Machine learning is a form of software that can learn from data, in the same way, that humans learn from experience. For example, consider image recognition - it is widely used around the world in driverless vehicles. Driverless vehicles use machine learning to recognise road signs, pedestrians, traffic lights and so on. This machine learning is integrated into the car controls systems, so it can accelerate, steer and stop the car.

Milo Alexsander: What is artificial learning? And how does it differ to machine learning?
Jaafar Almusaad : Artificial learning is conceptually older than machine learning. Its concepts were laid down in the 1950s. Artificial learning is actually another software that mimics human behaviour, but without the learning aspect. Developers need to learn the problem and then have to codify the solution into the programs. Machine learning is different in the sense that the developers don’t need to do the learning themselves. Instead, they feed the training data into the software and the software does the learning, adjusting accordingly by itself. Therefore machine learning is more dynamic compared to the more static state of artificial learning.
