6 reasons many Americans 🇺🇸 don’t travel abroad!
Recent studies show that only 51% of Americans have a passport
Which is news to me because I feel like I always see tons of other Americans around the world
But these are some common reasons that I think prevent many from international travel 👇
1. Not enough vacation time. We are notorious around the world for working too much and not having much time off. And often when people do get their 1-2 vacations a year they spend it visiting family or catching up on other life stuff.
2. It’s too expensive. Life in the USA is so expensive already. So a lot of people don’t have the expendable income for international travel.
3. Saving money for other things like buying a house and/or having kids. Life is all about priorities and it’s normal for people to want these things and that might mean sacrificing travel.
4. So many places in the USA to see. Putting all the money and vacation time issues aside. The US is a giant country with 50 states and tons of different cities and landscapes. So people who do have the time and money might just want to visit the rest of their own country.
5. Fear of leaving their comfort zone. It’s crazy how many times people tell me it’s brave to travel to places where you don’t speak the local language. Things like language barriers, safety concerns, and entering the unknown really keep some people from wanting to leave the country.
6. No passport and no interest. Like I said almost half of Americans don’t have a passport and some people just have no interest at all in visiting other countries. To each their own I guess!
