ISRO's journey began with sounding rocket, progressing to the reliable SLV-3 and ASLV in the 1980s. By the 1990s, the workhorse PSLV emerged, which has achieved more than 50 successful launches to date. Today, ISRO's launch portfolio offers versatility, including SSLV for small payloads, PSLV for medium payloads and GSLV and LVM-3 for heavy payloads, capable of delivering payloads ranging from 300 kg to 10000 kg.

ISRO is now preparing Human Rated LVM3 (HLVM3), which is designed to carry cosmonauts for Gaganyaan because of LVM3's excellent launch record and powerful cryogenic engine. Looking ahead, ISRO's vision extends to next generation launch vehicle (NGLV) and reusable RLV, further strengthening its space ambitions.
