Robotic Guided Soft Target for Autonomous Vehicle Testing

Check out this video of the latest testing tool at the American Center for Mobility Powered by Intertek. While it might look like a toy car, in reality it is an extremely high-tech robotic sled used for testing autonomous and connected vehicle technologies. It’s called a Guided Soft Target and is now available as part of a comprehensive testing program at the American Center for Mobility. The GST base is a sled, connected to GPS signals and driven remotely from a control station. On top of the sled, a life-sized vehicle made from foam is constructed. This allows the autonomous vehicle sensors to detect a vehicle just as it would on the road and react accordingly.
