Finding a Mentor

Understand the role of a mentor

Before you start searching for a mentor it's important to understand what a mentor is and what they can do for you.

A mentor is someone who has more experience and knowledge in a particular field and is willing to share their insights with you. They can help you navigate challenges, provide feedback on your work and offer guidance on how to achieve your goals.

Finding a Mentor

Try to utilize your network because the best things in life are free. My relationships with my mentors have been non-transaction and therefore avoid paying for mentorship programs.
Reach out to friends family and colleagues and professional contacts and ask if they know of any Cloud engineers that would be willing to Mentor you/ Use your alma mater as your network as well.
You can also intend industry events and meetups to network and connect with other Professionals in your field

The next step is to reach out to potential mentors. Once you have identified your potential mentor you should reach out to them and express your relationship interest in a mentorship. Explain why you're interested in their guidance and how you believe they can help you achieve your goals,

Be respectful of their time and make it clear that you are willing to put in the work to make the mentorship successful. Once you have found a mentor it is important to start building a relationship with them. Show your commitment to the mentorship by actively seeking their advice and implementing their feedback and be open to constructive criticism and be willing to learn from your Mentor experience and insights.
