The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 792 suspects linked to cryptocurrency investment fraud and romance scams. This significant achievement was announced during a press briefing at the EFCC's Lagos office, where Director of Public Affairs Wilson Uwujaren detailed the surprise raid conducted on December 10. The operation, which targeted a hideout in Victoria Island, followed months of meticulous surveillance and intelligence gathering. Among those apprehended were 148 Chinese nationals, 40 Filipinos, and individuals from various countries, including Pakistan and Indonesia. The EFCC revealed that these foreign masterminds had recruited Nigerian accomplices to carry out phishing schemes aimed at unsuspecting victims across the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
