Donald Trump Congratulates Anthony Albanese On Win, Takes Swipe At Peter Dutton | 10 News First

US President Donald Trump has responded to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s re-election, while taking a swipe at Opposition Leader Peter Dutton.

Speaking briefly outside the White House on Sunday, Trump said: “I have no idea who the other person is that ran against him.”

The remarks follow Labor’s landslide victory over the weekend, which secured Albanese another term as party leader.

The exchange comes amid recent tensions, with Albanese labelling Trump’s proposed tariffs on Australia as “not an act of a friend.”

Despite that, Trump offered responded, saying, “Albanese I’m very friendly with… I don’t know anything about the election other than the man that won, he’s very good.”
