In part 2 of his presentation to the Manchester Web Performance Group, founder of CDNify, James Mulvany talks about speed and scaleability.

He gives an in-depth case study looking at how a product launch for Wavestreaming went from getting no hits to receiving millions of hits in one day.

After approaching his hosting company for advice, James decided to build his own solution to keep costs down and allow him to scale his product on his terms. He discusses this solution and talks through some of the tools which have helped this process including Nginx, PHP-FPM, Memcached, Resque and Monit.
