#90secondFIX - A new perspective on digital specs

Welcome back to #90secondFIX.

At FixSpec, we've been championing a shift towards digital API documents for a whole decade now.

Old habits die hard of course, and often our conversions get stuck in the same old chicken-and-egg problem: "I'll wait to produce machine-readable specs until customers are ready to receive them..."

But nobody will do the work to read them until enough firms start producing them!

We keep banging on the digital drum, however, because we KNOW that machine-readable specs are the future, and we understand the benefits.

The biggest misunderstanding we see is that digital specs are somehow "locked", and both sides need to understand the format before they can be adopted.

Instead, think of digital specs as just a structured, digital version of your existing API document, including all of the human readable stuff like descriptions and diagrams.
