Solid Iodine in a Flask

1 g of solid iodine is placed in a flask. A purple gas evolved from the solid iodine.

For Teachers:
Solid iodine is placed in a warm flask, and capped. The iodine immediately begins to sublime. The sublimation is evident in the purple iodine gas forming.
