Agile Schizophrenia: Consistent Agile is the Hobgoblin of Little Minds
Consistent Agile has one guarantee: Consistent failure, or mediocrity at best. We present two reasons for a more flexible, team-to-team, project-to-project approach to Agile. First, the types of problems being solved now, as well as the technologies available to such projects, has evolved over the last two decades. Second, the purpose of the Agile process, once fulfilled, can make the process minimally useful (at best), and an inhibitor to innovation (more likely). We wrap up with a case study of a UK retailer using major variations of Agile correctly and simultaneously.
