About Darjeeling Mall Road :

The Chowrasta or the Mall is the heart of Darjeeling town. Located on top of Nehru Road, this is a flat open promenade where tourists and locals come to lounge in the sun, take a seat on one of the many benches scattered along the periphery, have a cup of tea and watch the wonderful views of the mountains and valleys all around, and of course, see people go by, kids play around and tourists do store hopping.

About GLENARY'S:

Glenary's Bakery & Cafe, also known as the Glenary's Cake Shop is located at the ground floor of a two storied white colonial building that prominently displays its name in front. This is a prominent landmark of Darjeeling and existing since the British colonial days. It's run by the Edwards family. Glenary's is located on Nehru Road and at a stones throw away from the Mall (Chowrasta).Glenary's Restaurant is located upstairs which you can access through a stairway either from inside the cafe or from outside the building. And at the basement is the Buzz Bar which is a modern pub. All three units belong to the Edwards family and the entire white building is known fondly in Darjeeling as The Glenary's. Ajoy Edwards, who is the political leader of 'Humro Party' in Darjeeling, is the present generation owner of Glenary's.


About Sonada Monastery:

Sonada Monastery, Samdrub Darjay Chöling, is a monastery located in Darjeeling, India. It was founded in 1966 by Kalu Rinpoche in a formerly Geluk monastery. He established a three-year retreat center at Sonada. It served as Kalu Rinpoche's primary residence and as the international seat of the Shangpa Kagyu tradition. Kalu Rinpoche passed away at Sonada in 1989.
