Iron Fist 25 (2025) | U.S. Marines & Japanese Forces Conduct Intense Bilateral Training

U.S. Marines with Echo Company, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers from the 1st Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment conducted a bilateral urban operations training at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, on Feb. 21, 2025. The exercise aimed to enhance cohesion between partner forces and share tactics during Iron Fist 25, an annual event that boosts interoperability and strengthens relationships among the U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, JGSDF, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only forward-deployed unit, serves as a flexible and lethal crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
