Dont show up unprepared, hoping something “just happens.”
Networking success starts before you even walk in.
The better you prepare, the more valuable and memorable you’ll be.
1️⃣ Research the People, Not Just the Event.
Networking isn’t about winging it.
Find out who’s attending and what they care about.
Action Step:
Use LinkedIn to check speakers or attendees.
Look for recent posts, projects, or shared challenges to use as conversation starters.
Find common ground if you can.
Example: “I noticed your recent post about .."
2️⃣ Find Their Pain Points.
People don’t care about your pitch - they care about solutions.
Action Step:
Look at their company’s blog or recent updates.
Did they announce a new project or challenge?
Example: “I saw your company is scaling into hybrid cloud - how are you tackling security gaps?”
3️⃣ Be Ready With Value.
Don’t just “chat.”
Bring something to the table.
Action Step:
Prepare one or two solutions or ideas that align with their problems.
For example: “We faced similar challenges, and using [Tool/Strategy] helped cut the time in half.”
4️⃣ Ask Thoughtful Questions.
Build trust by showing genuine interest.
Action Step: Use questions like:
“What’s been your biggest takeaway working in [field]?”
“What’s a challenge you’re tackling right now?”
Networking isn’t about asking for help - it’s about showing up prepared to add value..
..and make genuine connections.
Do your homework, focus on THEM, and stand out instantly.
