How often have you been taught rules, and been expected to apply them?
This is essentially what #teachers are constantly asked to do: teach rules (for grammar, for mathematics, for poetry, for sciences...) and ask students to apply them.
Somehow, we're assured, that's learning.
But for anybody with working memory challenges - and this usually includes #dyslexics - this is precisely the sort of thing that hinders, rather than helps.
