Mastery requires more dedication and focus than simply consuming information. We’ll discuss how mastery is about implementing and summarizing what you learn and teaching other people.
Finally, we’ll talk about how mastery can lead to success and allow you to be much more effective when implementing what you learned.
POINT #1: Consuming Information Doesn’t Equal Mastery
People who read lots of books and consume other content often are just turning the pages without mastering the content.
If you can’t explain or summarize the content and teach it to someone else, you haven’t mastered it.
Mastery happens through journaling, implementing, summarizing and teaching content.
POINT #2: Mastery Takes Effort
To truly master something, you must do the work required to understand and implement it.
Depending on the subject, mastery may require you to ask questions, think about the content, watch videos, take notes or practice the technique.
Mastery is an important skill for children to learn, so you should encourage your kids to summarize content by asking them questions and having them “teach” you.
POINT #3: Mastery Leads to Success
Success is achieved through mastery.
Mastery enables you to achieve a higher level of effectiveness than simply consuming information.
You will be much more likely to achieve your goals and implement new techniques if you can demonstrate mastery.
