Should you use templates for patterns? Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
It can be fun to wing it, and so many of my patterns are 'wing it' patterns because I draw for enjoyment and sporadic art therapy 😉 and not for perfection.
But templates absolutely have their place.
A template can help you take away the guesswork of lining things up, minimising obvious seam lines, ensuring spacing between motifs is consistent, and reduces time you spend rearranging when things don't work.
Do they make all your patterns look the same? Nup.
They can help make a collection cohesive, but if you mix up your theme, style, and colour, the patterns look nothing alike.
Tomorrow, I'll show you two completely different patterns that use the same template - you would never guess it!
