Capstone Summary:
Demand for data science roles has been growing rapidly through the years. However, companies may sometimes not be able to get applicants with the right qualifications that fit their requirements. There may be a mismatch between what the candidate has, and what the company actually seeks. This project aims to identify the most relevant qualifications, skills, tools, and technologies employers seek when looking to fill data science-related roles.

Cohort 5 Eskwelabs Data Science Demo Day: Innovating for the Recovery
The COVID-19 pandemic, and the political, economic and social disruptions it has caused, has fundamentally changed our lives. The crisis has uncovered inconsistencies and inadequacies across all of our systems - from health to energy to job markets. As we enter this unique window of opportunity to shape the future, the Eskwelabs Data Science Fellows will offer insights of how on different dimensions of recovery, data can play a game-changing role.
Innovative companies like AirBnB and Uber have something in common: they were founded in the midst of the immediate aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis between 2007-2009. We are hopeful that the Eskwelabs Data Science Fellows, armed with 21st century skills, problem-solving mindsets, and a commitment to improve their communities ake part in rebuilding, both in the Philippines and beyond.

Since its founding in May 2019, over 1,500 AI/ML enthusiasts and experts from more than 84 countries have come together for eight-week AI challenges to address significant issues related to hunger, sexual harassment, land conflicts, gang violence, wildfire prevention, and energy poverty. Omdena’s partners include the UN Refugee Agency, World Food Programme, the World Energy Council, and numerous corporations and NGOs.
P.S. Every demo day is inspired by a theme and this demo day’s theme is inspired by trending Netflix show “Start-Up”, in line with the innovative approaches data can help us create.
