Trump is 'not happy' with the pace of Russia-Ukraine peace talks

Vice President JD Vance said on Wednesday Russia was asking for too much to end the war in Ukraine, underlining continued White House frustrations with the pace of Russia-Ukraine peace talks.

Speaking at the Munich Leaders Meeting in Washington, Vance said “The Russians are asking for a certain set of requirements, a certain set of concessions in order to end the conflict. We think they’re asking for too much.”

"It's possible that's right," President Trump told reporters on Wednesday, when Scripps News asked him about the Vice President's comments. "He may know some things. But we are getting to a point. Some decisions are going to have to be made. I'm not happy about it. I'm not happy about it."

President Trump also took questions on U.S. foreign policy and the U.S. approach to trade negotiations with China, which will feature at an upcoming meeting this week in Switzerland.

China said Wednesday the U.S. requested those talks — but when Scripps News asked about the process, President Trump pushed back on the assertion.

"I think they ought to go back and study their files," the president said.

President Trump did not answer a follow-up questions about whether he was confident the U.S. could reach a trade deal with China.
