I heard this song twice in two weeks at CVS, filling prescriptions for Paul and Ray. The low harmony on the chorus kept running through my head until I finally gave up and learned the song. I was headed to Texas to play a couple shows and I pitched the idea of playing it to my friend Vanessa, who was opening the Austin show. We practiced it in the garage after the kids went to sleep and it was easy breezy. The shows were great, too -- sandwiched between days of wrangling Ray and Vanessa's two toddler guys (both of whom I was lucky enough to see born!). Yes, what a joy to see old friends and new little ones, but what a difference from the old slow days of no kids. Much as I love this new chapter, it's hard not to miss those days, hard not to want it all! I can't say it better than Lucinda did…and Mary Chapin echoed… and thank goodness Vanessa was up for doing a little Low-Key Karaoke of it, so we could share it with you guys. And thanks, Paul, for filming and editing.
(Low-Key Karaoke is my remote-duet project…check it out and send me a melody!)
